Lew & Huey Legends
Lew & Huey Watches
has announced the Legends, a bold and colorful new addition to their
line of automatics. The name comes from U.S. Legends International, a
budget-friendly, oval track, spec racing series. The watch carries the
racing theme throughout its design, from the Monaco style square case,
to the windshield arched sapphire crystal, to the racing livery dial.
The engine is a 21 jewel Miyota 8217 with a 24 hour complication for all
you endurance racing fans. It measures 39mm wide, 12.5mm thick, and
wears a 22mm rally strap with deployant clasp. Three wild color
combinations are planned - maybe four if stretch goals are met. Retail
price will be $475, but Kickstarter early bird pledges start at $350.
Mercer Brigadier
Mercer Watches has released its first offering, the Brigadier Automatic dress watch. I reviewed
a prototype for you folks last Sunday. It has a 42mm case with an
athletic build, sapphire crystal, SuperLuminova, and a classic dial with
applied markers and a textured, cut-away center. A high beat Miyota
9015 handles the timekeeping duty. MSRP is $400, Kickstarter pre-orders start at $329.
Vortic American Artisan Series
Want to kick it old school? I mean really old school? Then have a look at Vortic.
They are refurbishing antique American pocket watches from Elgin,
Waltham, and Hamilton, and placing them in a case of their own
invention. The two-piece unit is composed of 3D printed powdered
stainless steel that is then infiltrated with bronze. Buyers can choose
from three sizes (42mm, 47mm, or 52mm) and three finishes, including a
raw option that will allow the bronze to oxidize. The campaign is only
two days old and already fully funded. Prices start at $475 on Kickstarter.
Azula Fabric Watch

Resnick of Yes Man Watches has partnered with three other young
entrepreneurs to form Azula Watches, a novel watch with a philanthropic
mission. This
40mm quartz features a brightly colored fabric faced dial that is hand
cut and carefully applied, creating a unique look. Azula has pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds to Kids Alive International, a charitable organization that provides aid to impoverished children around the world. It looks like a fun fashion watch and is priced just right at $80 on Kickstarter.
